Christmas Tree Disposal
Members of the Coos Bay Volunteer Firefighters Association
will be picking up Christmas trees that are located within the City limits of Coos Bay on Saturday, January
9, 2016. Firefighters ask that you place your tree next to
the curb by 8:00 a.m. on January 9th. There is no need to
call the Fire Department because firefighters will check all streets located
within the City limits starting at 8 a.m.
The
Coos Bay Volunteer Firefighters Association is asking for a canned food donation
for the removal of your tree. Trees will be picked regardless if a
donation is made or not. This year the canned food donations will be
given to the Salvation Army for distribution to families in our area that need
assistance.
Some
of the collected trees will be used by the Oregon Department of Fish and
Wildlife for improving stream banks and providing habitat for fish. Other trees
will be ground up and recycled as garden mulch.
