Check it out: The Coos Bay Public Library now lends board games!
The Coos Bay Public Library is pleased to announce that its collection of over 80
board games is now available for any Coastline library cardholder to take home.
Patrons can check out up to three games for seven days at a time.

The library has long been a proponent of board games as a way to cultivate
community through the fun, social, and imaginative aspects of game play. Coos Bay
Public Library's game collection has been available to use in the library for over a year,
and the library has a monthly game night for adults and participates in two annual family
board gaming events: International Games Day in fall and International TableTop Day in
spring.

“It's so fun to see families and groups of friends coming to the library to play
games,” said Elena Gleason, Acquisitions Librarian, who runs the library's board game
events and maintains the game collection. “We've seen friendships blossom and
families become closer at our events, and we're thrilled that everyone will now be able
to take the games home with them to play anytime.”

The library's collection includes games for players of all ages, from preschooler
to adult, and emphasizes newer games over classics. “We figured everyone has already
played Monopoly and Clue,” Gleason explained. “Why not try something new and
exciting, like the cooperative game Forbidden Island, which is great for families, or a
challenging strategy game like Race for the Galaxy, which will really test your critical
thinking skills?”

A list of the library's board games can be found via the Coastline library catalog
here: http://bit.ly/26C5yDd . Game on!
