Community Education
class offered Winter Term at Southwestern:
Principles of
Eastern Medicine
Coos Bay, OR – Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Community
Education Department is excited to be offering a new course for winter term.
Principles of Eastern Medicine (HE 0503 65)
Learn the ancient science of Ayurveda in this
introductory course on this 5,000 year old practice that translates into
“Wisdom of Life” or “Knowledge of Longevity.”
The Principles of Eastern Medicine will educate you on a
medical model that is based on lifestyle modifications rather than our present
model of symptom management through medication or surgery. You will learn
basic self-assessment tools to establish an understanding of your body type or
constitution. You will gain awareness of the use of diet, breath/Pranayama,
posture/Asana and mindfulness/Meditation as tools to enhance your wellbeing.
This is a great course for students and athletes who
would like to enhance their wellbeing and performance, as well as for those seeking
relief from chronic pain or disease.
