The
Coos Waterfront Walkway project proposes to create a park and walkway along the
bay front allowing citizens and visitors to take advantage of the recreational,
commercial, and industrial activity by increasing pedestrian access to the
water, and by connecting “hubs” of activity such as the Coos History Museum and the Coos Bay and North Bend
Boardwalks. In 2008, with the help of a technical assistance grant from
the National Park Service, a Concept Plan for a Coos Waterfront Park and Walkway was
completed to articulate a vision of how the waterfront would evolve to reflect
the interests of the community and to lengthen the pedestrian-accessible
waterfront areas. The full text of the Concept Plan can be found
here: http://portofcoosbay.com/projects/wwpPLAN.pdf
