The first Candidate Roundtable of this political season will be held on Saturday, February 20th at the Coos History Museum from 10:00am to 11:30am.  Residents of Coos County are invited to participate in small group discussions with the Republican candidates running for US Senate and Congressional District 4 in Oregon.

Confirmed participants include Jo Rae Perkins, financial advisor and a former chair of the Linn County Republican Party.  Ms. Perkins is a candidate for Congressional District 4 which represents the southwestern part of the state including Coos County.  Perkins is seeking to unseat Peter DeFazio who is running for his 16th term. DeFazio is the longest serving House member in Oregon’s history.

Republican candidates for US Senate participating in the roundtable include Lane County Commissioner Faye Stewart, information technology consultant from Salem, Mark Callahan, and financial consultant Daniel Laschober.  In addition to the three Republican candidates, Senator Wyden faces a contested primary from two members of his party and two independent candidates.

Saturday’s event is open to citizens throughout the county.  Participants will have an opportunity to register to vote and also get more information about precinct committee persons and their role in helping get out the vote.

Seating is limited.  To reserve your seat or for information about this event, please contact Teresa Avery at 541-297-3973 or sendthelight@earthlink.net.
