EOTSC20151130 Siuslaw Library - book donations

Friends of the Siuslaw Public Library

“Give me your tired, your used, your well read books, yearning to be shared! The gently used of your teeming bookshelves. Donate these, the mold-less, bug-free, complete books to me. I will take your donations inside the Library doors.” (with apologies to Emma Lazarus)

The Friends of the Siuslaw Public Library welcome your book donations on a year round basis.  While in the past we solicited books just before our annual sale, now we actively seek book donations all year long and as soon as we have enough boxes of wonderful, eclectic, educational, fascinating, profound and purely entertaining books—we schedule another of our popular Bromley Room Book Sales.  The more you donate, the sooner we’ll have another sale!

So, please, if you have extra books piling up on your shelves (or the nightstand, or the floor…), bring them to the Library anytime.  Donations may be left at the circulation desk whenever the Library is open.  If you have larger donations and would like assistance, please contact us ahead of time and we can arrange to have a Friend on hand to help transport the books.  You may call the Library at 541-997-3132, or email the Friends at SiuslawLibraryFriends@gmail.com.  Donation receipts are available on request. The Friends of the Siuslaw Public Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

While the Friends welcome all donations and we excel at finding good homes for most materials we receive, we have found it’s difficult for us to successfully sell textbooks, encyclopedia sets, and outdated periodicals.  What we can always use more of, however, are Large Print books, Audio books, Cookbooks, Children’s books, How-to books, Crafts & Hobbies, Sports, Biographies, Current Magazines, and the ever popular fiction—Mystery, Suspense, Horror, Science Fiction, Western, etcetera.

Book sales are one of the Friends’ primary fundraisers.  All proceeds go to support both branches of the Siuslaw Public Library and their programs. The Friends thank the members of the greater Florence community for their ongoing donations and support.  Please email SiuslawLibraryFriends@gmail.com with any questions.
