Coos Bay Public Library will be offering a NEW Introduction to Google Drive class for novice users. This class will be held on Friday, January 22nd, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the library’s Internet computers (entrance at 9:15am).
Attendees will learn how to access their Google Drive accounts, which are free with every Gmail account. Attendees will also learn to use Google Drive to create documents, perform basic word processing features, upload files, and share documents. Attendees should have an active Gmail account, and be comfortable using a computer mouse and the Internet.
Seating is limited, so pre-registration is required.  The sign-up sheet is available at the Reference Desk in the Library. There is no admission charged. Please call 269-1101 to sign up or for further information on this program.

  •         Finding out whether you have diabetes can help prevent serious complications.
  •        Bay Area Hospital offers a free blood sugar screening the fourth Thursday of each month, from 9 to 10 a.m.
  •        In the hospital’s first floor main lobby.
  •       You should fast for six hours before the test, and no coffee or tea. Another option is to arrive about   two hours after you start your breakfast.

Sweet Speeches, a fundraiser for the Bandon High School Speech Team, will be held at the Sprague Theater on Thursday, January 21st at 7 PM.
Come support the speech team, enjoy the award-winning speeches, and the homemade cookies included in the ticket price. Tickets, which are $10 for adults and $5 for students, are available from speech team members of by calling Bandon HS at 347-4413.

The Coos Health & Wellness Public Health Division continues to provide Reproductive Health and other Public Health services. Some of the available services are:

·        Birth Control methods, such as the pill, the ring, the shot, and intrauterine device.
·        Pregnancy testing.
·        Women’s Health Annual Exams and Screenings for cervical and breast cancer.
·        Testing & treatment for sexually transmitted diseases for both males and females.
·        Immunizations for children and adults.

These services can be provided at low cost or for free for uninsured community members. The Contraceptive Care program may cover costs for birth control, testing, and exams.

Coos Health & Wellness also accepts Oregon Health Plan (WOAH), Pacific Source, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Providence, ODS/MODA, and Lifewise. Please, bring your insurance card at time of service.

Appointments are available within a few days Tuesdays thru Fridays.
