All programs begin at the South Slough Reserve Interpretive Center located four miles south of Charleston at 61907 Seven Devils Road.

Spring is just around the corner and our feathery friends will soon be returning! This is the perfect time to join us at the South Slough Preserve to build your own birdhouse.  


Saturday, February 6th from 1 – 3 pm        WRENS
Children, parents and grandparents can come learn about wren ecology then build a birdhouse to encourage them to live in their backyard.  Cost is $12/birdhouse. All supplies are provided, however if you have an extra hammer, please bring it.  Call: 541.888.5558 ext. 121 to sign up.

The Coos Bay Garden Club Valentine Decorated Mug Sale will include beautiful mugs/bowls decorated with varied local evergreens, candies, ornaments and ribbon for $10. These items will make excellent gifts for family, friends and co-workers.  There will also be live plants for sale.

Proceeds will go to the club for support of local community projects.

EOTSC20160204 (th) CB NB Water Board - flushing waterlines



During the week ending February 5, Coos Bay-North Bend Water Board will continue routine maintenance flushing of waterlines within its distribution system in Coos Bay.  Flushing of waterlines will in the Libby area from Libby Lane and Shinglehouse west to Noah Road, Shasta Road south to Red Dike Road, north to Hobby Lane, east to Shriners Road; in the Bunkerhill area Highway 101 from South Broadway east to Ellen Road and south to Troy Lane; in the Millington area from Linton Avenue south on Highway 101 to Shoshone Lane.  Flushing will begin in the morning each day about 8:00 a.m. and end at approximately 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  In some locations, it may be necessary to begin flushing earlier in the morning and end earlier in the afternoon. 
          Customers within the affected area may experience periods of reduced pressure and may notice a discoloration of the water during these flushing periods.  Customers should avoid doing laundry if their water appears discolored.  If the discoloration does not clear up promptly, please notify the Water Board at 267‑3128.

USA Dance will hold their monthly dance Friday, Feb. 5th in the upstairs ballroom of the Coos Bay Eagles (568 S 2nd St) Intermediate Charleston lesson 7-7:30, Beginning Charleston lesson 7:30-8. Open dancing 8-10. Admission: $4 members & students, $7 non-members.

The Coos County AARP tax-help program for those of any age with low to moderate income Thursday, February 4, 10:00 am, at the Lakeside Lions Club, 890 Bowron Road.

AARP volunteers will help with electronic filing of both federal and state taxes. Interested taxpayers will need to bring photo identification, social security card(s), 2014 tax returns, and 2015 tax year information.
